Thanks to Kindred Spirit's comment I was able to read up on St. Philip Howard and some other Recusants.
I thought one story was so great I had to post it here:
"He had petitioned the Queen as he lay dying to allow him to see his beloved wife and his son, who had been born after his imprisonment. The Queen responded that if "If he will but once attend the Protestant Service, he shall not only see his wife and children, but be restored to his honors and estates with every mark of my royal favor." To this, Saint Philip replied, "Tell Her Majesty, if my religion be the cause for which I suffer, sorry I am that I have but one life to lose." He refused and died alone in the Tower. He was immediately acclaimed as a Catholic Martyr."

Thank you very much for posting this, Andrew. Saint Philip Howard and his beloved wife Anne suffered much for the Faith. So devoted was Anne to her husband that she wore widow's weeds until she died, which was many years after her dear husband died a martyr's death. What great examples of the Faith these souls are! Blessed be God in His angels and in His Saints! And may God richly bless you and your dear ones, Andrew.
